Palacio Chávarri

Attraction · Abando

An ornate palace on Plaza Moyúa, with a dramatic roofline and windows that refuse to match.

Pause on Plaza Moyúa to study this former home of industrialist Víctor Chávarri. Belgian architect Paul Hankar designed it in 1889 with Flemish Renaissance influences, giving the façade a varied rhythm of windows beneath an elaborate roof.

It now houses government offices. Treat it as an architecture stop on a walk through the Ensanche, and enjoy the exterior without assuming you can visit inside.
