La huella
Landmark · Uribarri
A giant steel fingerprint at Artxanda, remembering those who fought in the Civil War.
La Huella is Juan José Novella’s eight-metre steel fingerprint beside the Artxanda viewpoint. It remembers the Basque soldiers and militiamen who fought Franco’s forces in the Spanish Civil War. Combine it with the view from the hilltop and the nearby display of the funicular’s original gear wheel. The council announced repairs to the park’s perimeter wall in March 2026. Check current municipal notices before making a special trip and follow any signed diversions around the park.
