The Artxanda viewpoint looks over Bilbao and the river, with the surrounding hills beyond. Take the funicular from Plaza del Funicular, then explore the viewing area near the upper station. The original machinery’s gear wheel and Juan José Novella’s fingerprint memorial, La Huella, give the walk a historical dimension. Check the operator’s current service times before travelling. The council announced repairs to the nearby La Huella park wall in March 2026; follow local signs and check municipal notices for any remaining diversions.
