Zubizuri means white bridge in Basque, and Santiago Calatrava’s arched footbridge is one of the river’s most recognisable crossings. It joins Campo Volantín on one bank with Uribitarte on the other, giving a different angle on Bilbao’s waterfront as you cross.
Work it into a riverside walk: approach along Campo Volantín from the Town Hall, cross to Uribitarte, then continue towards the Guggenheim. Pause on the riverbank as well, where the white arch is easier to take in as a whole.
