The Diocesan Museum of Sacred Art occupies the former Encarnación convent in Atxuri. Its collection follows religious art in Bizkaia across eight centuries, from Romanesque works to the present. Sculpture, paintings, metalwork and vestments show both changing artistic styles and the objects made for local churches.
The exhibition rooms are reached through the convent’s cloister. Use the museum’s own entrance at Plaza de la Encarnación 9B, rather than treating the adjoining church as the museum. Check its official visitor information and temporary programme before going.
