Durango
Attraction
A compact old town with Santa María’s covered portico and streets to explore on foot.
- Travel time
- About 55 min from Bilbao
Durango’s old town makes a manageable day on foot, with the covered portico of Santa María de Uribarri as a starting point. Explore the surrounding streets and squares, then continue towards the Santa Ana arch and Kurutziaga. Choose this outing for town history and architecture; a trip into the nearby mountains needs its own transport and walking plan.
Allow about 55 minutes from central Bilbao, including the walk from Durango station. Take Euskotren E1 from Zazpikaleak/Casco Viejo towards Donostia and get off at Durango. The official tourism website has local maps, routes and current guided visits.
