Sirgueras
Landmark · Abando
Four riverside figures honour the women who hauled boats along Bilbao’s estuary.
Dora Salazar’s Sirgueras recalls the women who once pulled boats along the estuary using ropes and their own strength. The four figures make a striking pause on Paseo de Uribitarte and bring women’s work into the story of industrial Bilbao.
Look for the group on the public riverside promenade. It is a short outdoor stop to include in a walk along the estuary; there is no museum interior to plan around.
