Jeff Koons’s Puppy stands in the square outside the Guggenheim: a giant West Highland terrier covered in living flowering plants. Made in 1992, the sculpture combines a steel structure with soil and flowers, giving it a very different surface from the museum’s titanium walls.
Pause in the museum square to see the planting close up, then continue around the building towards the river and its other outdoor works. The museum’s collection page includes an audio guide if you want more context.
