Puente Bizkaia carries its suspended gondola across the estuary between Getxo and Portugalete. Opened in 1893, the iron transporter bridge is an outing from Bilbao for industrial architecture and riverfront walks. View it from the bank, cross in the gondola, or check the separate upper-walkway visit before choosing how to explore both sides.
Allow about 30 minutes from central Bilbao: Metro Bilbao line 1 from Abando to Areeta takes around 20 minutes, followed by a walk to the bridge. Allow extra for waiting. Check current bridge visits for operator links, weather changes and ticket options.
