Excavated remains of a late medieval convent beneath Plaza del Corazón de María.
Beneath Plaza del Corazón de María are the remains of the Convento de San Francisco, built in the late 15th century. The covered archaeological site traces the convent’s construction and demolition in the 19th century, followed by the Príncipe Don Alfonso barracks, whose structures also survive.
The Museo de Reproducciones de Bilbao manages visits, with an entrance at Calle Conde Mirasol, 2. Outside the advertised summer opening period, the museum lists group visits by advance reservation. Contact the site before travelling; this is not a guaranteed walk-in stop.
