Ayuntamiento de Bilbao
Landmark · Uribarri
Bilbao’s 1892 city hall, with an ornate Arab Hall behind its formal riverfront façade.
Joaquín Rucoba, also the architect of Teatro Arriaga, designed Bilbao’s city hall on the site of the former San Agustín convent. Completed in 1892, its formal façade faces Plaza Ernesto Erkoreka; inside, the richly decorated Arab Hall is the standout room.
You can appreciate the exterior on a riverside walk. To see the principal rooms, arrange a guided visit through the council in advance and check available dates before building your day around it.
