Azkuna Zentroa occupies Bilbao’s former wine warehouse, with the original façade retained around a contemporary cultural centre. Philippe Starck led the conversion; the atrium’s 43 different columns were designed by Lorenzo Baraldi. The building itself gives an architecture visit a clear focus.
The programme includes exhibitions and cinema alongside other cultural activities. Start with the atrium, then check what is on during your stay. Building tours are offered through a separate registration programme, so confirm available dates rather than relying on a past seasonal timetable.
The centre opens daily, 08:00–21:00. Exhibitions, the Mediateka, cinema and other services have their own schedules; check the programme for the part you want to visit.
